We all know what a bad fake tan looks like...basically like a Cheeto. It's happened to the best of us, even if we think we're a pro at it. No matter how many times you've applied fake tan, I feel like there is always room for improvement. Now by NO MEANS am I saying I'm a pro, but I think I've gotten a lot better at it from trial and error. With the right products and the right tips, you'll have the perfect fake tan.

Before fake tanning, probably the most important step is to exfoliate your skin. Go in the shower and take a body exfoliant on a loofa or washcloth and get all the dead skin off. You might also want to shave your legs, as this also helps with application. Exfoliating your skin removes dead skin and allows the tanner to apply evenly. You will also want to moisturize any dry areas like your hands, knees, elbows, and feet before applying the tanner. This will keep the tan from sticking to those areas and becoming darker than the rest of your body.

Now comes the big question...which fake tan should I use? Choosing the right tanner for you is extremely important. I have tried probably over 10 different brands throughout the years. Some I love and some just aren't for me. My favorite tanner for awhile has been Loving Tan. It's a little more on the pricey side, but worth it. It comes in 3 shades, medium, dark, and ultra dark. Another important step is to pick the right shade for you.

Another good brand is St Moriz. This brand offers a mist, mousse, and a lotion. This is also a cheaper option you can find at the drug store.

Of course I have to bring up Jergens. Personally, I've used Jergens in the past. Some of their products have turned me orange and streaked and some of theirs didn't at all. I like their Wet Skin Tanner that you use out of the shower. This didn't streak on me, but it did take a few applications for me to actually see a significant tan. The color is very light. I also like their Natural Glow Daily Firming Moisturizer. This gradually gives you color, so it is not streaky or orange at all. Jergens is also affordable and can be found at the drug store.

Another important step is to apply mouse tanner with a mitt! This is the most efficient way and ensures that you won't have any streaks. Plus, it won't turn your hands orange. Also, tanning your back is the hardest part of this process. The easiest way is to just have a trusted friend do it for you!

After you've applied your tanner, you should let it dry. I like to apply mine at night and then sleep in it. I take a shower in the morning to rinse it off...no soap...just rinse. After the shower make sure to moisturize! This will keep your tan lasting longer and will prevent it from wearing off.

That is how I apply fake tan and the best that it works for me! If you decide to try it out, follow these steps carefully and good luck! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to look out for more posts coming very soon!
